Terms of use

These are the working rules for using ShadowMatch during the pilot, written in plain language by the ShadowMatch team. They have not been reviewed by a lawyer.

What this product does

ShadowMatch is a coordination platform. Businesses publish shadowing opportunities with their own requirements, and students can request a specific available date. We facilitate introductions, information sharing, scheduling, messaging, and status updates. We do not employ either participant, we are not the host of the visit, and we do not guarantee access, placement, interviews, internships, employment, or any other outcome.

Accounts

Provide accurate information and keep it current. Student accounts are limited to people aged 18 and over during the pilot. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials private.

Hosting businesses

Hosts set their own requirements and decide who they accept. If you host, you are responsible for the accuracy of your listing, for the safety and legality of the visit at your site, for any forms or waivers you require, and for complying with rules that apply to your workplace and industry. Public publishing requires review by our team; that review confirms basic business information and is not an endorsement, background check, site inspection, insurance verification, or legal/compliance approval.

Students

Apply only to opportunities you genuinely intend to attend, follow the host's stated requirements, and communicate as early as possible if your plans change. Applying, waitlisting, and being reviewed do not create a ShadowMatch platform fee.

Student platform fee

During the current pilot, a student platform fee is created only after an accepted shadow experience is marked completed and not marked as a no-show. The current configured amount is shown in your dashboard before payment is requested. This is a fee for use of the ShadowMatch platform; it does not purchase or guarantee acceptance, a shadow day, internship, interview, employment, or any host-provided service.

Secure online checkout is not active until our payment provider is connected and the app explicitly shows payment as available. Until then, the platform may record a fee as due but does not collect card information or represent that an online payment was completed.

A host may separately state its own participant cost on an opportunity. That host-set cost is separate from the ShadowMatch platform fee and is not collected by the app unless the product explicitly says otherwise.

Payment questions and refunds

We do not promise automatic refunds in these pilot terms. For a payment question or refund request, use the Contact & Support form. We will review the circumstances and respond through the contact information associated with the request. A formal refund policy may replace this pilot process later.

Acceptable use

Do not harass anyone, misrepresent who you are, scrape or misuse other people's information, or use private visit details for anything other than coordinating or attending the relevant visit. We can suspend an account or disable an opportunity when review of a report or account activity supports doing so.

Content you provide

You keep ownership of what you upload. You give us permission to store, process, and show it to the people and service providers needed for the product to work — for example, sharing a student's application with the business they applied to or releasing accepted-only visit information to the accepted student.

Availability and changes

This is a pilot release. Features, pricing, and these terms can change, and the service may be unavailable at times. Material product changes should be reflected in the product and these pages before users are asked to rely on them.
